Firescaping Training for Extension Agents, Educators, and Community Leaders
A "train the trainer" course aimed at teaching educators and community leaders about firescaping so they can deliver the Preparing for Wildfires with Firescaping training to their community
Firescaping Training Introduction & Instructions
PLEASE READ BEFORE GETTING STARTED:
Welcome to the firescaping training for Extension Agents, educators, and community leaders. This training prepares you to deliver the Preparing for Wildfires with Firescaping training that was designed for Master Gardeners, but can be delivered to any public group. Thanks for your interest in the training. The ultimate goal of this project is to increase southeastern U.S. homeowner and community wildfire preparedness. Our main objective is training Master Gardeners and other community members so they can share firescaping information with their communities, increasing the impact of the training. But to educate these audiences we realized we also need to "train the trainers," which is the intention behind this training. This website includes:
- The online training for educators and community leaders (prepares the educator to teach or host Preparing for Wildfires with Firescaping) and
- A training toolbox (this contains all materials necessary to teach or host the day-long, in-person Preparing for Wildfires with Firescaping training).
How to start? Follow these steps before doing anything else:- First set up a free account to access the course through the "Getting Started" tab (see above section).
- Next, watch the introduction video below.
- Then, read the online Training Instructions PDF below prior to beginning the course. Please note there is an order for completing the online educator training and this is detailed in the instructions. All online components must be completed to access the training toolbox.
