    Rockin' Around the Infant Classroom

    Welcome to the online modules for Rockin' Around the Infant Classroom. By the time you enter this course, you have already attended one face-to-face training session. The six modules of this course will give you additional information and ideas for working with infants. Each module includes
    • a series of informational slides
    • some discussion questions to get you thinking about the content
    • a short quiz at the end to help you review the material
    • a handout with a list of activity ideas
    • other resources and web links to help you learn more about the topic
    Modules that are posted can be completed in any order. Remember that you need to complete all six modules before your next face-to-face training. Each module should take about 30 minutes to complete.

    To get started on a module, click on the title.
    • Topic 1

      This second module will help you learn more about why play is important for infants who are crawling, cruising, and walking. The module also includes ideas about what you can do as an infant teacher to encourage infants' play.
      • To get started, click on Module 2: Play for Mobile Infants below. You will see a series of slides. Click on the arrow in the upper right corner to advance through the slides. Read the information carefully, and think about what it means for your infants.
      • At the end of each section, you will see one or two response questions. Click on the links in those slides, and share your ideas. There are no right or wrong answers for these questions.
      • When you finish a response question, click on "RATIC" at the top. This will take Module 1 again, and scroll down the left side to get to the next slides.
      • When you finish the module, you will need to take the end-of-module quiz to show that you have learned the material. Click on the link in the final slide to go to the quiz.
    • Topic 2

      This third module will help you learn more about feeding infants in your child care program. The module includes information about supporting breastfeeding, bottle feeding, feeding infants solid foods, food allergies, and food safety.

The module includes information about handwashing, keeping the classroom clean, diapering, infectious diseases, and teaching infants about health and safety.
